Shorewood Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced, strategic nursing executive to join our Executive Leadership Team. As Chief Nursing Officer, you'll partner directly with the CEO and senior leadership team to drive clinical excellence, strengthen nursing culture, develop future leaders, and influence the long-term direction of the organization. Located in Madison, Wisconsin, Shorewood Behavioral Health is a 120-bed, state-of-the-art behavioral health hospital dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health and addiction treatment services. Your Impact


As Chief Nursing Officer, you will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and provide strategic oversight for all nursing operations.

 

  • Drive nursing strategy and operational excellence. 
  • Mentor and develop clinical leaders across all units.
  • Ensure compliance with TJC, CMS, and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee budgets, staffing, and workforce planning.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor outcomes and champion continuous improvement.
  • Influence executive decisions and long-term planning.

Qualifications

Active RN License (WI or eligible for reciprocity).

Proven Nursing Leadership (CNO, DON, or equivalent).

Behavioral Health Experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting (required).

Strategic & Operational Expertise with strong interpersonal skills.

BSN required; MSN or mental health nursing preferred.6+ years RN experience (10+ preferred).
3+ years progressive nursing management.
2+ years behavioral health RN experience in inpatient psychiatry.
