Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT: 

The Internal Control Analyst assists the facilities with ensuring that all Acadia Accounting and Business Office policies are implemented appropriately and performs various reviews to ensure compliance to these and other key controls. Recommends corrective action plans and monitors performance against those plans. Provides training and guidance to facilities as needed on business office practices. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Completes audits of assigned Acadia Facilities using the standard review document. These audits are completed to review compliance with key accounting and business office policies. Provides Facility CFO, Operations CFO and Division Management with a written review and recommendations. Continues to follow up with the facility to ensure corrective actions are completed. 
  • Completes quarterly balance sheet reviews as requested by the Division CFO using the standard review documents. Provides the facility CFO, Division CFO, Operations CFO and Internal Audit with copies of the reviews. 
  • Completes monthly review of Balance Sheet Variance analysis prepared by the Facility in compliance with Internal Audit criteria. Provides feedback and follows up with the facility to ensure that explanations are complete and adequate. Provides copies of the reviews to the Division CFO.  
  • Provides assistance with training facility accounting staff on month end close processes, statistics reporting and HMS GL data entry. 
  • Develops and presents training webinars as requested on policy and procedure topics. 
  • Develops, as requested, HMS accounting reports. 
  • Ensures new facilities are transitioned to Acadia policies and processes and that staff are trained. 
  • Assists with ensuring monthly statistics are reported accurately in Hyperion. 
  • Serves as backup for Financial Analyst as requested for such things as budget uploads. 
  • Assists with facility month end close as requested during absence of a facility CFO. 
  • Maintains a current knowledge of healthcare industry trends and changes and ensures facilities are prepared and compliant. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. 
  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems.  
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with facility and corporate staff. 
  • Ability to lead with a high degree of emotional intelligence and ethics. 
  • Ability to set priorities and expectations. 
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures with the ability to operate most standard office equipment. 
  • Ability to work professionally with sensitive, proprietary data & information while maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external. 
  • Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to next level. 
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail. 
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames. Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes. 
  • Capable of working within established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the organization. 
  • English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions.
