Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

 

The Director of Financial Reporting is responsible for providing leadership and performing high-level reviews of consolidated accounting activities, reviewing elimination/consolidation accounting and the preparation of financial statements such as the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows. The Director of Financial Reporting also assists with researching, interpreting and implementing new accounting guidance and accounting guidance related to non-routine situations. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees the internal and external financial reporting process, including filings with the SEC.
  • Directs the compilation and consolidation of supporting documentation for financial statement disclosures.
  • Researches, interprets and implements new accounting guidance as well as accounting guidance related to non-routine accounting situations.
  • Evaluates and accounts for business combinations.
  • Provides review and detailed oversight of elimination/consolidation accounting, including accounting for joint ventures.
  • Oversees accounting and reporting for the Company’s insurance captive and the consolidated insurance accounting and budgeting process.
  • Oversees accounting for leases and the management of accounting lease database.
  • Reviews and performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of more complex general ledger accounts.
  • Supervises financial reporting accountants.
  • Interacts with facility, division and group level CFOs to answer questions and assist with accounting conclusions in non-routine matters.

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPA and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Ten years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting and healthcare.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office; especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures with the ability to operate most standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work professionally with sensitive, proprietary data & information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external.
  • Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to next level.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames. Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes.
  • Capable of working within established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the organization.
