Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT: 

The Corporate Project Outpatient Director will be supporting and traveling to Acadia outpatient departments around the country. The Corporate Project Outpatient Director will act as the Outpatient Director at facilities that have a vacancy. In addition, this Director will be responsible for identifying gaps in the outpatient process, recognizing training needs to improve day-to-day outpatient operations, and delivering actionable items to the facility outpatient directors that support a smooth and efficient outpatient process for new patients.  

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Defining and measuring individual outpatient related goals at each facility. 
  • Supporting and training facility outpatient departments on how to meet or exceed their facility’s outpatient-related performance goals, including average daily visits, conversion rates, outpatient growth opportunities, client service productivity, and outpatient staff engagement. 
  • Coaching and developing facility outpatient departments to improve their ability to build and manage an effective, high-performing outpatient team. 
  • The development and oversight of outpatient-related processes, systems and reporting in accordance with facility needs and company standards and best practices. 
  •  Supporting facility outpatient teams with building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within and outside the organization including facility management/staff and internal and external referrals sources.   
  • Participating in Acadia initiatives to improve outpatient capabilities, define standards, and best practices across the company. 
  • Identify Gaps in the Outpatient Process – assess and recognize gaps and opportunities to improve facility outpatient operations and key performance indicators. 
  • Evaluate facility outpatient department’s overall functions via standardized tools. 
  • Utilize corporate and facility reports to identify and improve outpatient department’s step-down conversion rates.  
  • Observe, assess, and improve the facility’s outpatient process from initial contact, through admission, treatment, and discharge. The goal is to be a lean and efficient process to help as many clients as possible. 
  • Improve Outpatient day-to-day operations provide key support in the improvement of outpatient-related processes, systems, and reporting. 
  • As applicable, ensure the department’s inquiry calls are followed up in a timely manner and are worked for admission/referral with a constant sense of urgency. 
  • Evaluates actual outpatient for compliance with mandatory policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Monitor facility outpatient staff productivity and performance (Ie: documentation integrity and timeliness, attention to patient care, engagement with inpatient patients for step-down/continuum of care, group therapy integrity). 
  • Regularly review and assess processes to identify areas of need or redundancy. 
  • Work in collaboration with the Business Office and UM teams to ensure accurate benefits and authorizations for care. Determine any cause/trending for denials management in collaboration with UM.  
  • Ensure proper use of Medhost, Wellsky, Salesforce, and other outpatient-related technology.  
  • Evaluate actual outpatient processes to ensure compliance with mandatory policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Conduct individual coaching and feedback sessions with outpatient staff to improve the ability to exceed patient care goals.  
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and team-building exercises. 
  • Supporting facility outpatient teams with building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within and outside the organization including facility management and staff along with internal and external referral sources. 
  • Participating in Acadia initiatives to improve outpatient capabilities and define standards and best practices across the company. 

 

OTHER FUNCTIONS:  

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Licensed master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work (clinical field)  
  • Behavioral Health Outpatient: 3+years 
  • Working knowledge of trends and best practices within acute psychiatric hospital industry highly preferred 
  • Senior Leadership or management experience in hospital-based outpatient setting 
  • Proven ability to build relationships, lead, manage and drive business results through others.   
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.   
  • Ability to work professionally with sensitive, proprietary data & information while maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external. 
  • Exercises sound judgment in responding to needs of their team, removing obstacles  
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail. 
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames.  Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes. 
  • Capable of working within established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the organization. 
  • English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions. 

 

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: 

  • LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, etc. 

TRAVEL: 

  • Ability to travel to US based Acadia Facilities (~100% of the role)
