Overview

An enterprise clinical business analyst analyzes and optimizes an organization's systems, strategies, and operations related to electronic health records. They work with stakeholders (clinical and non-clinical) to identify business needs, define goals, and design solutions that align with the organization's vision and mission. This role is central in supporting strategic decision-making, optimizing project selection, and ensuring alignment between IT projects and business objectives, ultimately leading to enhanced stakeholder satisfaction and improved IT efficiency.

Responsibilities

 

  • Act as a liaison between IT and other entities including business office, operations, transformation office, quality dept, vendors to understand business requirements related to Electronic Medical Records.
  • Look into day-to-day usage of existing EMRs and identify pain points from a clinician perspective; provide recommendations for operational efficiencies, better patient safety, improved financials, interoperability, compliance, etc.
  • Experience working with healthcare data and making better decisions leveraging data.
  • Draw out complex business requirements using various channels leveraging design thinking principles.
  • Familiar with Agile and Scrum methodology.
  • Familiarity with establishing a BA practice including mentoring other BAs.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure business value and the effectiveness of existing EMRs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, development, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the BA team, promoting best practices, automation, and various testing approaches to ensure consistency and high-quality deliverables.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to implement stakeholder satisfaction surveys and use feedback to identify and prioritize areas for improvement.

 

  • OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a comprehensive status report for all activities, providing regular updates and listing milestone accomplishments.

Qualifications

 

  • Prior experience with at least one EMR – EPIC, Cerner, Allscripts, Wellsky, Netsmart etc. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a business analyst. 
  • Proven experience in leading and managing multiple projects, both in waterfall and agile environments. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make informed, strategic decisions. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.  
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
