Network Engineer II

 

Hybrid: 3days in office; 2days remote

 

Under general direction, the Network Engineer II manages the purchase, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/WAN systems. Responsible for evaluating current systems. Works on complex problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation of various factors. Plans large scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies. Provides work leadership and training to lower level network engineers. Requires expert knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, networks, and applications.  Provides direction, information and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations.

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
  2. Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; proactively addressing network optimization needs.
  3. Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications to resolve operational issues and restore services.
  4. Administration of systems and servers related to the network infrastructure to ensure availability of services.
  5. Configure and maintain network connectivity to and in cloud platforms such as Azure, GCP, and AWS.
  6. Implement and manage SaaS and SASE applications like zScaler and Velocloud.
  7. Configure and manage NGFWs such as PaloAlto & Fortinet.
  8. Maintain and support Acadia Healthcare’s multi-site network operations.
  9. Coordinate repairs and technical support for network services and systems.
  10. Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access.
  11. Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  12. Reporting network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information.
  13. Serve as a mentor to Field Support and Core Infrastructure staff.
  14. Maintain current documentation of Acadia Healthcare’s network architecture and systems.
  15. Maintain a thorough understanding of networking and security technology platforms. (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPM, Wireless, )
  16. Monitor and report on network performance against IT’s Service Level Agreements.
  17. Research and oversee implementation of new technologies.
  18. Support 24X7 operations as needed for network infrastructure after hours & weekend.
  19. Respond to tickets in a timely manner to ensure that IT meets its Response and Closure SLAs.
  20. Execute Acadia Healthcare IT’s incident management processes to properly triage, resolve and/or route issues to the appropriate IT resource for support or escalation.
  21. Collaborate with all team members, across IT towers and third parties to ensure expedient problem resolution, deliver to project objectives, attend meetings as required, and perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
  22. Write routine reports and correspondence, and email.
  23. Communicate in an effective and professional manner to individual users, groups of users, and other Acadia Healthcare employees.
  24. Keep updated on new technology and industry trends and attend appropriate certification courses to maintain proficiency.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years demonstrated experience in an independent role supporting LAN/WAN environments and systems or 2+ years of Mid-level experience in one area of networking.
  • Mid-level knowledge of voice and data communications.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, switching and routing.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure components such as switches, routers, firewalls, and servers.
  • Ability to escalate and involve other resources as required to provide support per Acadia Healthcare IT Service Level Agreements.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS).
  • Ability to think quickly and respond effectively to high-visibility situations.
  • Ability to train, explain and impart knowledge to others.
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures with the ability to operate most standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work professionally with sensitive, proprietary data & information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames. Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes.
  • Capable of working within established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the organization.
