Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT: 

50% Travel Mid Atlantic and New England Regions: New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia and North Carolina.

The Military and Veteran Liaison is responsible for building census in Acadia facilities by conducting business development activities in assigned territory.  The ideal candidate will have experience working with VA Medical Centers and/or active-duty bases for professional referral generation.   Responsible for assessing the behavioral health services in the state to determine opportunities available to market Acadia’s military and Veteran focused programs.  Present MFS/Acadia services to decision makers and coordinate referrals and admissions to Acadia Programs.  Facilitates the receiving of referrals from the field, reviewing the referral packet to determine what facilities in network would best meet the treatment needs of the referral, ensuring a quick disposition from the facilities, targeting a facility for admission and then managing the case to admission ensuring that the needs of the referral source and patient are met; to include clinical updates, communication and discharge planning.  Serves as a liaison for both the facilities and referral sources to adequately relay pertinent information, i.e. concerns/problems that may arise during the care of a patient. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Conducts needs assessments in states and underserved areas to find markets for Acadia’s military support focused programs. 
  • Identifies decision makers in the target markets and reaches out to establish relationships within the behavioral healthcare community, specifically within the Department of Veterans Affairs and/or Active-Duty installations 
  • Regular in-person site visits to referral sources to educate key stakeholders as to the programs and services of MFS/Acadia. 
  • Travel approximately 60%  
  • Completes face-to-face meetings with decision makers to understand customer’s needs and identify/eliminate obstacles to securing referrals for MFS/Acadia services.  
  • Develop presentations, customize them to the target audience and present in meetings geared to creating an awareness of MFS/Acadia services. 
  • Attend and participate in conferences where opportunity exists to market MFS/Acadia services. 
  • Responds immediately to service and referral inquiries. 
  • Manages the referral packet from receipt to securing disposition from facilities through to admission. 
  • Serves as care manager in communicating with referral source, Acadia program and referral to walk through the admission process, secure transportation and address any concerns that arise in the process.  
  • Demonstrates professionalism and a thorough understanding of DoD requirements and VA Processes. 
  • Documents all referrals, visits and referral source information in Salesforce. 
  • Participates in business development team meetings and assigned projects. 
  • Meets monthly business development goals. 
  • Remains current on behavioral healthcare industry in assigned markets. 

OTHER FUNCTIONS:  

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Three to five years’ experience driving business results in a healthcare role; preferably in behavioral health.  
  • Required overnight travel up to 60% 
  • Proven ability to build relationships and drive business results in a behavioral health environment is required.  
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Salesforce   
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures with the ability to operate most standard office equipment. 
  • Ability to work professionally with sensitive, proprietary data & information while maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external. 
  • Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to next level. 
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail. 
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames.  Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes. 
  • Capable of working within established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the organization. 
  • English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions.
