Director of Nursing (DON) – Yellow Rock Behavioral Health

 

We are currently seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing team and ensure clinical excellence during a period of leadership transition. Yellow Rock Behavioral Health located in Springdale, AR, is a 133-bed residential treatment center for children and adolescents (ages 12–17) who are working through complex behavioral health challenges. Our team provides structured, evidence-based care designed to help young people heal, grow, and return to their communities with stronger coping skills and support systems.

 

 

What would you do in this role?

 

The DON will be a key member of the team at Yellow Rock Recovery. The DON directs, plans, coordinates, monitors, and supervises nursing and the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services. We are looking for someone that provides a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and oversees the nursing department to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsible for clinical standards, staff leadership, compliance, and operational efficiency
  • Set vision and standards for nursing practice
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet patient needs
  • Supervise and evaluate nursing staff performance
  • Provide clinical leadership and set departmental goals
  • Adjust staffing based on census and acuity
  • Model excellence in patient safety and customer service
  • Develop and maintain nursing policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards
  • Manage departmental budget and operational efficiency
  • Lead recruitment, training, and staff development
  • Evaluate care quality and team effectiveness
  • Support direct care delivery when needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher strongly preferred.  
  • Current registered nursing license in State of facility required.
  • 6 + years’ experience as a registered nurse preferred.
  • 3 years of registered nursing experience required.
  • Two years of experience in behavioral health as a Registered Nurse preferred.
  • One year experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment (inpatient or outpatient) or relatable experience required.
  • Prior DON or Nurse Manager experience preferred.
  • Two years of progressive leadership or management experience required.
