Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT: 

The Director of IT Operations - Networking will drive the transformation of enterprise networking, leveraging SD-WAN, SASE, and Zero Trust frameworks to deliver secure, scalable, and cloud-integrated connectivity. The role requires hands-on expertise in multi-cloud networking, automation, and AI-driven operations, with a focus on regulatory compliance and risk management. The successful candidate will drive innovation, mentor a high-performing team, and collaborate with executive leadership to shape the future of digital infrastructure. Advanced certifications and experience with vendor management, disaster recovery, and IoT/edge networking are highly desirable. 

This is an onsite role at our corporate headquarters in Franklin, TN, becoming hybrid after the first 90 days.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES: 

  • Strategic Leadership: 
  • Develop and execute network strategies aligned with business objectives and digital enablement initiatives. 
  • Foster a culture of innovation, diversity, and continuous improvement within the networking team. 
  • Network Architecture & Operations: 
  • Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of LAN/WAN, wireless, and cloud-based networks, including SD-WAN, SASE, and Zero Trust Frameworks 
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and security across all network layers, supporting hybrid and multi-cloud environments. 
  • Technology Expertise: 
  • Provide hands-on leadership and guidance in the use of advanced networking technologies: firewalls, switching, routing, wireless and SDWAN. 
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate. 
  • Team Management: 
  • Lead and mentor a team of network engineers and architects. 
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning. 
  • Project and Vendor Management: 
  • Lead complex network projects from planning through execution, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence. 
  • Manage relationships with major technology vendors (Cisco, Zscaler, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.) ensuring awareness and knowledge of current and future state, in alignment with internal roadmaps. 
  • Monitoring & Optimization: 
  • Implement tools and processes for proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. 
  • Drive continuous improvement through analytics and automation. 
  • Compliance & Documentation: 
  • Ensure network infrastructure complies with internal policies and external regulations. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, standards, and procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 10+ years of working experience and advanced proficiency in network engineering and in enterprise networking technologies. 
  • 5+ years in a leadership role, managing teams and large-scale projects 
  • Deep expertise in cloud networking (Azure, AWS, GCP) , SD-WAN, SASE, Zero Trust, and automation. 
  • Strong background in project management including planning, execution and stakeholder communication. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and to effectively communicate with staff at all levels including a proven ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff across multiple disciplines. 
  • Experience with privacy legislation (e.g. HIPAA) and regulatory compliance. 
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.  
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to act independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to build relationships and work well across functions. 
  • Experience in a collaborative team environment, delegating workload and responsibilities. 
  • Delegates tasks, responsibilities and authorities effectively. 
  • Demonstrates superior judgment.
