Northern Virginia Adolescent Treatment Center (NVATC) is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead nursing operations at our residential treatment facility dedicated to adolescents ages 12–17 struggling with substance use disorders and co‑occurring mental health conditions.

Located in Chantilly, Virginia, NVATC provides adolescent‑specific residential addiction treatment in a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. Our programs focus on evidence‑based care, family involvement, and whole‑person healing, supported by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, licensed clinicians, and therapeutic staff.

Your Impact


As Director of Nursing, you will provide strategic and day‑to‑day leadership for nursing services, ensuring safe, compliant, and developmentally appropriate care. Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Leading nursing operations for adolescent residential and detox services
  • Mentoring nurse leaders and direct‑care nursing staff
  • Ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards, state licensing, and healthcare regulations
  • Overseeing staffing models, scheduling, and nursing budgets
  • Driving continuous quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Collaborating closely with medical, clinical, and family‑support services
  • Supporting survey readiness, audits, and accreditation activities
  • Contributing to facility leadership decisions and long‑term clinical planning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Active RN license in the state required
  • Minimum 3 years RN experience (6+ years preferred)
  • Behavioral health nursing experience:
    • 1 year required (inpatient, outpatient, psychiatric, addiction recovery, or related)
    • 2 years preferred
  • Prior DON or Nurse Manager experience preferred
  • 2 years of progressive leadership or management experience required
