Patient Admissions Assistant– Behavioral Health

Red River Hospital is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Patient Admissions Assistant to support the admission and registration of incoming behavioral health patients. This role is essential to patient safety, customer service, and the smooth coordination of care.
This position is ideal for candidates with healthcare, admissions, or patient services experience who thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Full time position available Monday - Friday from 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm. Part time position available on Weekends from 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients, families, and transport staff upon arrival
- Complete patient admissions, registrations, and data entry accurately and efficiently
- Explain admission paperwork and consent forms prior to patient signing
- Notify clinical leadership of patient arrivals and coordinate patient placement
- Ensure all required patient information is collected, verified, and processed
- Schedule and coordinate appointments with medical and behavioral health staff
- Answer phones, manage paperwork, and assist with insurance-related communication
- Conduct routine patient safety checks and document per facility guidelines (including 15-minute checks when required)
- Observe patient behavior and communicate concerns or changes to clinical staff
- Assist with contraband searches and documentation of patient belongings/valuables
- Obtain patient vital signs, height, and weight when assigned
- Support a safe, clean, and structured environment for patients and staff
- Assist with incident reporting and follow-up documentation
- Provide or coordinate patient transportation when needed
- Deliver excellent customer service with professionalism, empathy, and urgency

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Social Services or related field a plus)
- 1+ year of healthcare, admissions, or patient services experience preferred
